The Vulnerable Sector Check is the enhanced screening specifically designed for people who will work unsupervised with children or dependent adults, and it surfaces records a standard check does not. Every caregiver on our team clears one before their first booking. If you are interviewing any sitter, from any source, ask for it by that exact name.
A question worth asking every babysitter: "If you're sick on Friday, what happens?" A private sitter has no answer. Booked through us, a named backup who has already met your family and read your care plan takes the shift.
Casual teenage sitters in Saskatoon typically charge $15 to $18 an hour. Certified adult sitters booked privately run $20 to $25. Our rate starts at $28, and it is worth being transparent about where the difference goes, because it is not margin.
An agency rate covers the caregiver's wage plus the employer contributions that come with employing someone properly — CPP, EI, WCB coverage, vacation pay — along with commercial liability insurance, the cost of certification and record checks, and the scheduling and backup infrastructure that means someone actually shows up. When you pay an individual privately in Canada, those obligations don't disappear; they can quietly land on you as the employer.
