Overnight Babysitting in Saskatoon

For travel, night shifts, and the nights you cannot be there.

Overnight Babysitting in Saskatoon

Overnight care asks more of a family than any other booking. You are not leaving someone with your children for an evening; you are asleep somewhere else while they are asleep at home. The trust threshold is different and we treat it that way.

Two rules we do not bend: a completed meet-and-greet and a written care plan, both before the first overnight booking. We will not take one from a family we have never met, however urgent it is.

Who books overnights

  • Night-shift families. Saskatoon has a lot of them - hospital, care homes, emergency services. A rotating night rota is the single most common reason for a standing overnight arrangement.
  • Travel. A conference, a funeral, a wedding out of province, or the first weekend away since the children arrived.
  • A parent in hospital. Planned or otherwise. This is one we cover at short notice where we possibly can.
  • Split households managing a handover that does not line up with work.

How it is priced

Waking hours from $30 per hour. The sleeping block is a reduced flat rate, quoted per booking because it depends on how long it is and how many children there are.

The morning is waking hours, not an extra: breakfast, uniform, lunches packed, and the school run if the caregiver is on the authorised pickup list. Get them added in advance along with the named backup.

What we need to know beforehand

The care plan covers more than an evening booking does, because there is nobody to phone at two in the morning.

  • Bedtime routine in full, and what to do if a child wakes
  • Whether anyone sleepwalks, has night terrors, or wets the bed - so it is handled calmly rather than as a crisis
  • Allergies, EpiPen location, asthma inhalers, and any medication with its timing
  • Emergency contacts in priority order, plus one person who is physically in Saskatoon
  • A neighbour who can be knocked on, and where a spare key is
  • Where the breaker panel, water shut-off and fire extinguisher are
  • How the alarm works, and the code
  • Pets, and who feeds them

Most of this never gets used. It takes twenty minutes at the meet-and-greet and it is the difference between a caregiver who handles a 3am situation and one who panics.

Sleeping and awake overnights

A standard overnight means the caregiver sleeps - a spare room or a sofa, as you arrange - and wakes for anything that needs them. That suits most households with children who sleep through.

If your child is ill, very young, or has a medical need that requires genuine monitoring through the night, that is an awake overnight. Tell us and we will price and staff it differently. What we will not do is quietly take a sleeping-overnight booking for a situation that needs someone awake.

And the standing limit applies at night as in the day: our caregivers do not administer medication, provide wound care or perform any nursing task. If that is what the night requires, you need a licensed health professional rather than a sitter.

The same person each time

For standing overnight arrangements you get a primary caregiver and one named backup who has also met your family and read the plan. Children who wake at night settle for a familiar person and do not settle for a stranger, which is the whole argument for continuity here.

Book an overnight

Call or text 306-700-6576 with the dates, your children's ages and roughly the hours. Allow about a week for a first booking so the meet-and-greet and care plan can be done properly.

Common questions

How much does an overnight babysitter cost in Saskatoon?
From $30 per hour for waking hours, with a reduced flat rate for the sleeping block, quoted per booking because it depends on the hours and the number of children. The morning routine and school drop-off are included in the waking hours, not charged separately.

Do you require a meet-and-greet before an overnight booking?
Yes, and a written care plan as well. We will not take an overnight booking from a family we have never met. It is the one rule we do not make exceptions to.

Does the sitter actually sleep?
Yes, in a spare room or on a sofa as you arrange, and they wake for anything that needs them. If your child is ill, very young, or has a medical need requiring genuine overnight monitoring, say so - that is an awake-overnight booking and it is priced and staffed differently.

Can the sitter do the school run in the morning?
Yes. Breakfast, uniform, lunches and drop-off, provided the caregiver is on the school's authorised list. Add them and the named backup in advance.
