House Cleaning in Evergreen, Saskatoon
Evergreen sits inside the University Heights Suburban Development Area on Saskatoon's northeast side. The subdivision was created in 2010 and built out through to roughly 2020, which makes it one of the newest fully-established neighbourhoods in the city — and one where the whole housing stock shares a single construction era rather than spanning decades.
That is unusual and it makes the cleaning brief unusually consistent. Almost every Evergreen home we enter has the same generation of flooring, the same counter materials, the same window sizes and the same open main-floor layout.
What a 2010s build needs
- Engineered hardwood and luxury vinyl plank throughout. The default of the decade. Both are ruined the same way — too much water, or a general-purpose floor cleaner that leaves a dulling film. A barely-damp microfiber flat mop with a pH-neutral product is the only method most manufacturers' warranties permit, and it is what we use.
- Quartz counters. Extremely durable against scratching and extremely vulnerable to acid. Vinegar, citrus cleaners and bathroom products will permanently dull the resin binder. Quartz gets its own non-acidic cleaner and never shares a bottle with the bathroom.
- Open-concept main floors. When kitchen, dining and living are one volume, cooking aerosol and dust distribute across the entire floor rather than staying in one room. Top-down sequencing matters here — floors last, always, or you finish by dropping dust on what you just cleaned.
- Large windows and glass stair railings. Standard in this period. Northeast-facing glass catches hard morning light that shows every streak. Two-cloth method, one damp and one dry, is what actually gets a clear finish.
- Soft-close cabinetry and integrated appliance panels. Fingerprint magnets, particularly on matte finishes, and they need the right cloth rather than the right chemical.
Eco-friendly products in an eco-minded neighbourhood
Evergreen attracts environmentally conscious households, and it is one of the areas where we are asked about products most often. The answer is the same as everywhere: plant-based, low-odour cleaners are our default across every service, not a premium option you have to request and pay extra for. Homes are safe for children and pets as soon as floors dry. Our guide to eco-friendly cleaning products that actually work covers what we use and why.
A neighbourhood of young families
Evergreen School anchors a genuinely young demographic, and the cleaning pattern reflects it — heavy on kid-height surfaces, entryways, and bathrooms, lighter on the formal spaces that older neighbourhoods still have. Most of our Evergreen clients run bi-weekly recurring service, which is the right cadence for a household with children and two working adults.
We also get a steady stream of babysitting enquiries from Evergreen. Sitters are CPR, First Aid and Food Safe certified, Vulnerable Sector checked, and start at $28 per hour with a free meet-and-greet first. Several families book a sitter and a clean on the same day.
Basements and first renovations
Evergreen homes from the early part of the build-out are now hitting the age where unfinished basements get developed. Renovation dust is a different problem from household dust — drywall dust passes straight through a standard vacuum filter and resettles behind you. Our post-construction cleaning uses HEPA filtration and a multi-pass approach for exactly that reason.
