House Cleaning in Aspen Ridge, Saskatoon
Aspen Ridge is a northeast Saskatoon neighbourhood that only started construction in 2014 and is still filling in. At full build-out it is expected to hold around 13,000 people, which makes it one of the largest developments underway in the city.
The housing is modern single family homes and townhouses, with multi-family development planned for later phases. Residents use the parks, pathways, schools and shops in adjacent Evergreen, along with Evergreen Crossing and the University Heights Suburban Centre.
A neighbourhood still under construction
Living beside active building sites is the defining cleaning problem here, and it is not something older neighbourhoods deal with.
- Airborne construction dust. Fine dust from nearby lots travels on the prairie wind and enters through every opening. Homes on the building edge of Aspen Ridge need window tracks, sills and entry areas done considerably more often than the city average.
- Settling dust from inside your own walls. New houses shed drywall and construction residue from wall cavities and ductwork for the first couple of years, particularly once the furnace starts running each autumn. It reappears after a clean, which owners find baffling until it is explained.
- Unpaved and partially finished streets. Grit and mud tracked in from a street still under construction is a different proposition from ordinary dirt, and it is abrasive on new flooring.
Modern finishes, modern rules
Energy-efficient construction and contemporary finishes are exactly what buyers come to Aspen Ridge for, and almost all of it is still inside a manufacturer warranty that the wrong product can void.
- Engineered hardwood and luxury vinyl plank. Damaged by excess water and by general-purpose floor cleaners. A barely-damp microfiber flat mop with a pH-neutral product is the only method most warranties permit.
- Quartz counters. Extremely durable against scratching, extremely vulnerable to acid. Vinegar and citrus cleaners permanently dull the resin binder.
- Builder-grade grout, unsealed. New grout looks flawless and is highly absorbent until sealed. Cleaning and sealing it early is the difference between grout that stays light and grout that never recovers.
- Tight building envelopes. Energy-efficient homes are well sealed, which is excellent for heating bills and means dust stays suspended and recirculating rather than escaping. Good filtration matters more here than in a draughty older house.
Possession cleans
Most builders include a clean before possession: a sweep, a wipe of visible surfaces, a vacuum. What it reliably leaves behind is dust inside cabinets and drawers, residue in light fixtures and vents, grit in window tracks, adhesive and labels on glass and appliances, and construction dust waiting in the ductwork.
Cleaning an empty house properly before the furniture arrives is far easier than chasing that dust around a furnished home for six months. Our post-construction service uses HEPA-filtered vacuums and a multi-pass method for exactly that.

Aspen Ridge skews young, and a lot of our clients here are booking cleaning for the first time.
