The Ultimate Spring Cleaning Checklist for Saskatoon Homes

After six months of sealed-up winter living, Saskatoon homes have built up a year's worth of dust, salt residue from boots, and that grey film on every window. Spring cleaning is the annual reset every home needs. Here's the comprehensive checklist we use professionally — the same one you can use yourself.

Kitchen

  • Empty, clean, and reorganize pantry — toss expired items
  • Wipe inside cabinets and drawers
  • Deep clean oven (inside, racks, glass)
  • Pull out fridge, clean coils & behind it
  • Deep clean fridge inside, including drip tray
  • Clean microwave inside and out
  • Degrease range hood and filter
  • Descale dishwasher (run with white vinegar)
  • Polish stainless steel appliances
  • Wipe baseboards and door frames
  • Mop floors thoroughly, including under appliances

Bathrooms

  • Deep scrub tub, shower, and grout
  • De-scale shower head (soak in vinegar overnight)
  • Clean exhaust fans
  • Wipe inside vanity cabinets
  • Polish chrome fixtures
  • Wash bath mats and shower curtains
  • Replace any expired medications and toiletries

Bedrooms

  • Wash all bedding, including duvets and pillows
  • Flip or rotate mattresses
  • Vacuum mattresses (yes, really)
  • Clean under the bed (where the dust hides)
  • Wipe baseboards, switch plates, doorframes
  • Dust ceiling fans and light fixtures
  • Wash windows and window sills

Living Areas

  • Vacuum furniture, including under cushions
  • Spot-clean upholstery
  • Dust electronics and screens
  • Vacuum air vents and replace HVAC filter
  • Dust blinds and curtains
  • Wash interior windows — both sides
  • Polish wood furniture
  • Vacuum/clean baseboards

Whole Home

  • Test smoke and CO detectors; replace batteries
  • Replace HVAC filter (Saskatoon homes accumulate prairie dust quickly)
  • Clean dryer vent — fire hazard if neglected
  • Wash all curtains and drapes
  • Clean light bulbs (instantly brighter rooms)
  • Donate items you didn't use all winter

Outside

  • Sweep garage; throw out salt-crusted boot trays
  • Power-wash front porch and walkways
  • Clean BBQ inside and out
  • Wash outdoor windows
  • Tidy patio furniture
